Jesus said to him, “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40
The Baja Missions Ministry builds homes for the working poor of Maneadero, Baja California, Mexico. Most of the people that we serve are indigenous people that have migrated north from southern states in Mexico in search of work in the agricultural fields. Many of the people don’t speak Spanish; instead, they speak indigenous languages such as Mixteco, Zapoteco and Triqui.
Our mission is to pour out the love, grace and mercy that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has bestowed upon us. We look to share the Gospel not only by what we say but also by what we do. Our main purpose is to “build.” Not only build homes but, more importantly, to build long lasting relationships. We cultivate our relationships with the communities, families and our partner church in Mexico through periodic visits throughout the year. To culminate the year, we head to Mexico with a large group of people from various churches to show God’s love by serving others. We build homes, conduct VBS and host a New Year’s Eve celebration. During the celebration, we share the Gospel, worship in both English and Spanish and serve dinner to hundreds of people from the community.
